Reviews for Baseball Furies and Chrome Spiders: Baseball Furies Review by Spiral Skratch Records
As always, we'd like to thank everyone who came in to see another fantastic In-Store performance--this time it was the work of Buffalo ex-pat Odie Wilson--ex Baseball Furie, currently from the NYC based Vilent Lovers Club. Also, a big thank you to all who attended/supported Big Neck Records 4th (and 10 year anniversary) Pain In The Big Neck Show. Last weekend was certainly one for the ages--and the final chapters on two bands who effectively kick-started the Big Neck label--The Blowtops and The Baseball Furies. Without question, our fine city was lucky to have them both.
The Blowtops shared split records with the likes of the White Stripes and had Jay Reatard contribute a song to their 2x 7" 10 year tribute (available here...last copies), recorded with the likes of Wharton Tiers (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) and toured Europe several times, where they saw their greatest appreciation.
As the Baseball Furies were parting ways, they went into Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studio, under the guidance of Bob Weston, and recorded what would be their final album, Throw Them To The Lions. The album would be the final point in their evolution as a wild and raw garage punk band to a great, honest rock and roll band-without sacrificing any of the energy or desperation of their earliest days. Their influences became apparent and they now had the confidence to quiet things down and showcase their talents as great songwriters who can effortlessly throw in a catchy hook without forgetting the rage that initially provoked them into dedicating their lives to rock and roll. Their final performance was one of the greatest things these eyes have ever witnessed on the Mohawk Stage. Perhaps I'm biased a bit...but there was litle question the band had lost anything; if anything the songs never sounded better. Their local supporters, and fans from out of town alike losing themselves for a time while the band blasted through 2 sets--clearly having the time of their lives, yet humble enough to take the show seriously enough to execute the songs with perfection. They spent most of their short visit practicing the sets. As for the album, it was released on this night and is now available here on both lp and cd format.
Chrome Spiders Review on Smashing Transistors!
CHROME SPIDERS "Black Butterfly" 7inch
Through his musical career Thomas Jackson Potter has been a punk rock guitar grinder in Just Say No, the crazy man on his back porch armed with a sawed off flamethrower in Bantam Rooster, Mick Collin's most perfect comedic foil in the Dirtbombs, grandmaster of ceremonies in the white boy sweat funk combo the Detroit City Council and now here, along with the help from some dudes from the Menthols and the Real Bitters , as the rock-n-roll ringleader of the Chrome Spiders. "Black Butterfly" moves like an old Cadillac driven by Thin Lizzy with the Damned on the 8 track tape deck barreling down a neglected state highway. The farther it goes the more speed it picks up with Potter providing some of the best yelps in the business to push it even harder. "The Whip Hand" starts out with a blues-punk smolder creeping up on to some combustible material. The spark ignites which not only the cornfield on fire but burns the barn down too.

Friday night review of the Pain in The Big Neck 4 show: Review Pain in the Big Neck 4 - Friday night!
Well it’s been a over a month now so I guess Its time we did a review of the Pain in the Big Neck 4 show, completely unbiased though, right?
First off I do have to thank several people, Rich Kroneisis from www.terminal-boredom.com and Dave Palumbo from Spiral Skratch Records always pushing me to put together another show and they always dive head first into anything I need them to do, especially in areas of advertising the show. The most important person to thank is Jimmy Hollywood, because without him the idea of the Baseball Furies reuniting and playing this show as their record release party would never have occurred. It was his idea to have the two separate sets where Matt Billiams would play the new songs and their 2nd drummer Dapper would play all the old ones. So a huge THANKS to Jimmy. In addition Odie played a key role in getting all the furies together. Dave Palumbo lent the basement for them to practice and practice they did. The Furies hit Buffalo and practiced 3 times a day for 3 days until the show. Unbelievable dedication. You may be asking yourself, “did it pay off?” Read on to find out.
Friday night, the first night started at Dave Palumbo’s record store, Spiral Skratch Records, with Odie playing a solo performance. It was pure rock n roll. Odie just exuded cool with every song, playing hits from the Vilent Lovers Club catalog. Hit after hit. It truly was an impressive set.
We went to the club a bit early to set up the show. We decided to use two stages at the Mohawk Place the front stage is the small original set up from the club, they also recently put in a back stage (last 5 years or so) that is huge. We were going to rotate the bands on each stage. I didn’t expect too much from Friday night in the way of a sizable crowd, we were in Buffalo after all.
The first band of the night was Minus9, Andy from Flying Bomb and the MHz new hardcore two piece. It was like a great B horror movie, Andy playing bass and his drummer beating the hell out of his kit. Andy was sporting this great mad scientist hair, he kept pulling it out of his head when he was singing and pounding his fist into his brain. The lyrics to the songs and the music being belted out were just a great combination. Minus9 was entertaining as hell and everyone liked the songs that were played.
Next up were the Electricutions, I haven’t seen Scott Wilson’s band in quite some time and damn if they did not improve 100%. Scott and company tore through a 25 minute set of DC punk rock. Never letting up, even though Scott had a sore throat from a night of thinking that if he drank enough he could sleep the whole way to Buffalo, didn’t work and his throat was killing him. It did not stop the rock. Like I said the Eletricutions raised the bar for each band that night, especially on the eve of their record release.
Next up were the Ex-Humans rolling in from NYC, one of Odie’s favorite bands and friends of his. I never heard them before, but The Ex-Humans took me by surprise they played tunes that kept on the tips of my toes. Catchy as hell and punk as well. A great set that blew by faster than I wanted it to. I never want an encore from any punk band but the Ex-Humans definitely left me wanting to hear more.
After the Ex-Humans we had the Terrible Twos set up on the big stage. The Terrible Twos always play a great set and we have been stunned by them in the past several times. This is the first time I have seen them play with ______ from the Mahonies. It was faster, crazier than I have ever seen them play before. It was a cacophony the likes of which Tim from Human Eye couldn’t match and underneath it all was great song structure and some outstanding tunes. At the end of the set, they literally left me staring at an empty stage, just thinking about how unbelievable they are. Pick up their LP on Criminal IQ right now.
Finally, a band I have been waiting years to see, AV Murder, Jimmy Hollywood’s new band. The Tyrades were the most stunning female fronted band I have ever seen, but the music was what made the band, and that music came from Jimmy Hollywood. He moved on to White Savage who were short lived but powerful. Jimmy hides his voice behind an old Microphone, a vocal sound that I thought would get old, but the music keeps it fresh with every song. Jim is a great front man, he has violent fits of guitar laden seizures constantly. His new band consists of a great bunch of guys, each and every one of them can handle a load of alcohol and still retain the utmost sense of humor. Back to the set, the band kicked out song after song that sounded like trains colliding or better yet, it sounded like you were on the train colliding. It was fabulous or fantabulous, your choice. I couldn’t stop smiling from the feeling that this was exactly what I wanted to see and Jimmy and the boys were giving it out in spades to the crowd. I don’t think there was one person there who didn’t tell me how great AV Murder was.
Finally the band of the night. The Blowtops last show ever. I was unhappy to see this happen; the Blowtops have been a Buffalo staple as well as a Big Neck Records staple for the last 10 years. Their last record was too damn good, it seemed to me that they were entering a whole new sound and excitement with the band, but alas it was not meant to be. They set up on the small stage, the stage that birthed them. The crowd started in immediately screaming at Tracy, “where’s the keyboard?” Her response was, “if you want to lug that monstrosity around feel free.” Then they kicked the living hell out of the crowd. Starting in with all the early hits, Creepy Dave dove headfirst into every song, scaring the beejeebus out of the front of the crowd. They ripped into the newer songs with Scott destroying his kit. Aaron was stumbling around stage like he was in a trance, whipping his guitar everywhere. On a stage this small that is unbelievable. They were simply amazing and went out of this world just like they came in….kicking, screaming, and hollering for blood. I couldn’t turn away from the stage; they entertained and scared me at the same time.
The Plates took on the huge task of closing out Friday night and as always they only get better and better with every show. Dave was burning up the stage with his guitar and how fast he was playing. Teo was just going nuts with the vocals. These guys gave an all out effort and the people ate it up. Teo was jumping off the stage and belting it out in the middle of the crowd. The Plates have really advanced their live show to become the number one hardcore/punk band in Buffalo; their hard work has paid off. New 12” soon to be out on Big Neck Records.
That was Friday night, the crowd was decent, the band’s were great, but wait till my review of Saturday, because Saturday blew Friday night away like a gasoline filled water tank!

The lineup for the show is all set except we are still looking for an out of town band to play on Thursday night with the Ex-Humans. Who by the way are friggin awesome! This show is going to be amazing. Its the Blowtops last show ever on Friday night, the Baseball Furies are reuniting to celebrate the May release of their final album "Throw Them To The Lions." Not only are they playing, but they are actually playing two sets! The earlier set is with Matt Billiams their drummer from Chicago and the later set is with Dapper, their original drummer! Absolutely crazy. Tom Potter from Bantam Rooster, Dirtbombs, and SLA, his new band the Chrome Spiders are playing Saturday night. Ryan reformed Red Red Red and they are headlining Friday night. HOLLYWOOD is making their bold foray out of Baltimore to the Queen City for the second time, where they are going to terrorize the Buffalo audience with their version of greased up, raunch filled, garage rock-n-roll!
In addition to all of this, I am going gangbusters over here at Big Neck to throw out as much rock-n-roll that I can before the show so you can buy it. The Baseball Furies LP/CD "Throw Them To The Lions" will be out by May. I just received Chrome Spiders' first single. The Sworn Liars (ex-Moorat Fingers) CD/LP "Vile Device" should be here by May. Finally we are crossing our fingers hoping that the Electricutions new record will be ready by the show.
Some bad news, we are not releasing the Things first Full Length. They had 2 labels in the UK put out the vinyl and CD. Alas, I have discovered by Ruairi from the Things, that the Things are no more. R.I.P. Ruairi is in a new band whose single we are hoping to put out soon. Also, we just received Red Red Red's songs and artwork for their new single. Tractor Sex Fatality's last record was delayed till this summer, but no fear it will be out and it is damn scary.

Sorry about the delay in the Baseball Furies record, but we have had a set back due to the fact that Jay Reatard’s schedule has been just taken up by his new label Matador. Thus, we had to find a new person to master the recording. Finally we hit up good ol’ Kevin Mistreater from Dusty Medical Records and he proffered his guy, Justin Perkins. Jimmy Hollywood is taking the tapes to Justin on Nov 7th. As soon as we get the master back, this baby will be in production. We are also at the same time pressing Tractor Sex Fatality’s last recordings on LP(500 count). Here is a list of our future releases in order of production.
Baseball Furies – “Throw Them To The Lions” LP/CD
Tractor Sex Fatality – “Blood Eagle” LP
The Plates -“S/T” LP
Chrome Spiders – “Whip Hand” 7”
Red Red Red – “ “ 7”
The Things – “ “ LP/CD
Vilent Lovers Club – “ “ LP/CD
Electricutions LP/CD
Red Red Red has a new 7” coming out on Solid Sex Love Doll Records. The Plates just have to master 1 more song for their 12”, Tom Potters new band The Chrome Spiders 7” is ready to go and they have already recorded another 6 songs. It’s friggin’ great.
HOLLYWOOD has fast become my favorite band in the Big Neck world. Every show (at least once a month) that I see them at is more and more packed with kids and they just get better and better. Tim’s vocals are really setting a style with the music they are playing. The band is just plain amazing theses days. Each show is just a new surprise. Now we just have to get them out on tour for a while.
Dave from the Plates and from the Trailer Park Tornados is opening a record store in Buffalo, NY this week. He will have a huge section of Big Neck Records swag. The store’s name is Spiral Scratch Records and you can email the store at spiralscratchrecords@yahoo.com.
I received a few records from Dusty Medical last week and one of my favorites was Jimmy Hollywood’s new band AV Murder. Phenomenal! If you didn’t get to check out White Savage, AV Murder sounds like a more stripped down powerful version. Loud angry guitars blaring at me with Jim’s messed up vocals coming through the speakers to make me chant along with the song. It is great. Buy this record now.
Speaking of the Furies, A-Ron and Matt Billiams are both on tour with Lover, check them out.
We canceled the Pain in the Big Neck show in October in Buffalo for a warmer time of the year. We are looking at putting this affair on in April or early May of 2009. This will be the 10th anniversary show for Big Neck and we are discussing whether to put out a compilation LP of new songs, from our current roster. What do you think of that idea? This years show in Buffalo will not have a day show. Too much hurts that Saturday. If we get the reaction from bands like we did last time, we will start the weekend on Thursday.

First off, SLA is out. BUY! BUY! BUY! I would like to apologize to everyone who has ordered records in the last couple months. I have attained a new job, and have not had much time for Big Neck, thus orders are going out about a week late. I promise it will get better. Fitts new single and Shirks first single are at United. We will also be doing download cards for the singles! Waiting for Jay Reatard to finish mastering the Furies album and then off to the pressing plant.

Back to business. Tom Potter asked us to put out his new bands first 7”, The Chrome Spiders. Aaron from the Blowtops has dug up his very first band’s second 7” which was never released and Scott from the Blowtops is mastering it, that bands name…SUCK. Lastly, for now on every LP we release will have a download card in it for your MP3 player. This card connects you to Fizzkicks.com for the songs.
Here is a picture of the Furies new cover.

Alright, big news The Baseball Furies last album will be sent to the pressing plant in late May, hopefully allowing for release before the end of summer. Seger Liberation Army is being sent to the pressing plant this Tuesday. I went to see the Shirks open up for Cheap Time and Jay Reatard, what a show. The Shirks pounded through 20 minutes of crazed speed punk rock with hooks that set me to dancing. They were awesome! Cheap Time one of my new favorite bands since the Big Neck Fest played some catchy throwback pop punk roll and are really amazing, last up Jay and his new crew. Damned if I am not acalways impressed with Jay and how he constantly grows with his music and still is able to amaze me and everybody else in the world. One of the best parts of the night was hanging out with an old friend, Odie from the Baseball Furies and VLC came into town to help his brother Scott master the Electricutions album. We had a great time. We are having a mini-Big Neck Fest around here at the end of June, The Shirks, The Electricutions, and HOLLYWOOD are playing two shows one in Baltimore at the Talking Head and the other at the Velvet Lounge in DC. |

Dave from Hex Dispenser’s and ex-New Fangs and ex-Tractor Sex Fatality is doing the Baseball Furies artwork for the last record and from the preliminary drawings, it looks awesome as usual. By the way Alex Cuervo from the Hex Dispensers told me we are their next single they record. Hell yeah! Love the Hex Dispensers!
Aaron from the Blowtops dug into his locker of old bands that he fronted and pulled out some unreleased songs from his band SUCK. And yes boys and girls we are releasing that sucker. Now we just have to find Jeff from Dragster and The Backstabbers and get his permission and we can release a 12” of The Backstabbers from Buffalo. It may be a little old, but it is still one of the best damn bands to come out of Buffalo. Also, we mastered the Jack Jimmy Hoodlums songs that have been laying in that trunk of Buffalo’s Dead Rock and are hopefully going to release that at the same time as the Backstabbers. On limited vinyl too!

Well, finally I headbutted the 21st century by playing around on youtube.com. And there is a ton of stuff on there. Duh, no I mean a ton of Big Neck videos. Plug in Big Neck Fest and you get a slew of videos from Red Red Red to the Cheater Slicks. Plug in Radio Beats and we get on cool ass video of their final show in Pittsburgh, where the cops tried to shut down the show, but the Radio Beats still pulled off 11 songs in 22 minutes. I even make an appearance in that video. Here is the URL for it… RADIO BEATS LAST SHOW
There are tons of new reviews up on the myspace page check them out, even KK Rampage being picks of the month!
HOLLYWOOD’s LP is almost here, the Burndowns record is pressed, but we are waiting on the artwork. This weekend I will have most of the MP3’s up on myspace and downloadpunk.com. I will also place buttons on the main page to lead you there.
The Shirks are almost done with the artwork on their 7”. Picture a band where the Carbonas meet DC and that’s the Shirks. They are opening up for Jay Reatard and Cheap Time here on April 26th. I will be there.

Sorry about the time, we were suppose to have a new site and new host, but things are taking their grand old time. Whats up? New releases are flying off the shelves so you better grab them, I only have 5 copies of the Terrible Twos 7" left, 75 copies of The Things 12" Wild Psychotic Sounds. The myspace page is kept up a little better on news than this site sometiimes so check that out too, www.myspace.com/bigneckrecords. HOLLYWOOD's full length is at the pressing plant, along with the Burndowns 12". The Burndowns have some great rock n roll alumni in there, the lead man is Steve Radio Beat and the Drummer is Jeff from Sugar Shack and The Hammicks. AWESOME. Dave Bessenhold from TSF, New Fangs, Gimmicks, and every other damn band in the world has taken on the daunting task of doing The Baseball Furies artwork for the new full length "Throw Them To The Lions." Jimmy Hollywood finally called me up and declared that they were never getting off their asses to finish the artwork. Dave to the rescue! Speaking of Furies, Odie is letting us put out the new VLC album on CD. Look for that soon. Tom Potter is putting the final touches on the artwork for the next SLA CD. The Hex Dispensers have agreed to do a 7" with us, I just can't get enough Alex Cuervo rock n roll. We got a great demo from a local DC band called the Shirks and we are trying to get them on board the Big Neck Train to success. Or failure whichever occurs most often here. New reviews of releases have been posted onto myspace. Oh yeah I am beginning to upload all the albums as digital downloads onto www.downloadpunk.com. The 7"'s you can buy off myspace soon. Still trying to set up a "Pain in the Big Neck" show up here in Baltimore for the summer. The hard part is tracking down Chris X from Reptialian because I want his label involved too. That man is harder to get a hold of than.....well I got nothing...he's just damn hard to get a hold of. The 7-10 Splits actually recorded a new album hoping to hear it soon. |
| October, 4, 2007 |
The show is just 2 weeks away!!!! Get your butts in gear and get there! Also, GitoGito Hustler 7" is ready, along with the Things 12", "Wild Psychotic Sounds"! Get on the Mailorder page and buy them. The GitoGito Hustler records was quoted by Steve Anderson from the Radiobeats and The Burndowns as, "The best thing I have ever heard them play!" We'll be giving free Big Neck crap out at the day show in Buffalo so make sure you get to Staples on Allen to grap free Tee's and CD's. That alone is worth the price of admission. In other news, the KKrampage CD is in the works and should be ready in a month or so. HOLLYWOOD finished the artwork for their full length and we should be rolling on that one soon. Still heckling Jimmy Hollywood to get the artwork done for the final Baseball Furies album, but it is still a no go at the moment. Waiting on the artwork from Tom Potter for the new SLA CD. It kicks ass. We are doing a 12" for Steve's new band The Burndowns! And one for Dan and Yago's new band The Test Patterns. |
| September 17, 2007 |
As you have seen already the Pain In the Big Neck Show is all set and ready! 22 bands in 2 days. It is going to be hectic as hell, but fun as hell too. We got Tom Potter to bring Bantam Rooster back together just for the show! Tractor Sex Fatality is flying in from all across the country to play in the 3rd show in a row. I love that dedication. We convinced Vee Dee from Chicago to come in and Gito Gito Hustler, 4 hot Japanese girls who play fast driven pop punk, who would miss that? Get your butt to the show this year!!!! $8 for the night shows and $5 for the day shows. The day show is all ages too! Darius from CIQ records is coming up to sell merchandise too. The Things 12" and Gito Gito Huslter 7" "What MY....???" are 2 weeks out. So get ready, because they are going to fly off the shelves. We are almost sold out of the HOLLYWOOD 7" and have maybe 10 of the Blowtops Tribute left. So, get your copies now! |
| August 3, 2007 |

| We just released two more singles, HOLLYWOOD a friggin' fucked up amazing punk rock band from DC area. Their harmonies are so amazing it would make the Meat Puppets and the Black Lips cry. Get their single "Girl?" now. They also have released a single on Spin The Bottle Records called "Big Mouth". Along with that we just released the Terrible Twos 2nd single "A+A" They sound like the bastard offspring of the Clone Defects, hailing from the same town I can see why. Speaking of Spin the Bottle Records they are releasing a 5 song 10" from our very own Blowtops. To be released before their European tour this fall. |
| August 2, 2007 |
| The new website is ready and we are launching it within a couple weeks just have to clear a few hurdles. So, thanks for the patience again. With the new website the news section will be updated on a regular basis. What's happening? If you haven't bought them already get the Red Red Red "Mind Destoyer" LP and the Night Terrors "Cobras" record, killer reviews from everybody for them. They are awesome. The Blowtops Tribute double 7" almost sold out. Buy buy buy, this will not be repressed. Jay Reatards cover is ridiculously amazing. We just released the Functinal Blackouts and KK Rampage split its moving quickly, along with that we release from our very own DC backyard the Electricuions proving that punk rock is biological because the lead in the Electricutions is none other than Scott wilson, Odie's (from the Baseball Furies, Vilent Lovers Club), brother. Everyone loves it. So buy them and play them continuously!!!!!! |
| February 7, 2007 |

If you want them in other countries than the U.S. send $7.00. IF it costs more than that to ship to you I will email you for the difference. SiZes are YL, Med, Large, and xl. |
| February 6, 2007 |
| Finally the Red Red Red LP is in!!! So, buy it! We are moving folks so everything will be a little chaotic for a couple weeks, please bear with Big Neck. The Blowtops and Tunnel of Love have returned to the good old U.S. from their European tours. Where from what I heard they stormed the masses and took out everyone with rock n roll! The Electricutions 7" and The Functional Blackouts/KK Rampage split will both be done within 3 weeks. Get ready. The Things from Ireland asked us to release their first full Length in the U.S., and we are! Still waiting on the artwork for the Baseball Furies last record to get done, we understand though, those are some busy ass boys, new bands, new jobs, new lives, etc... We are willing to wait for their genius. The Ponys new record on Matador kicks ass check it out. |
| December 29, 2006 |
| Sorry to apologize once again about this, but the Red Red Red LP is still delayed. There was apparently something wrong with the artwork so we had to send them back to the plant. Good new is that the Blowtops tribute double 7" is here along with the Night Terrors "Cobras" LP/CD, along with the Rotshit single, along with The Tunnel of Love CD repress "Rockin' Rollin' Bitches". Tons of stuff on the mailorder. Of course some is not yet released, but you can buy it right here! The Blowtops double 7" tribute is all on colored vinyl!!! 50 records are Yellow and Green, these are the rarest, 50 green and red, 50 white and yellow, 350 white and red. The rarest colors will be sold first throught the website. The Blowtops are going on tour across Europe so look for their tour dates on myspace.com/blowtops also Tunnel of Love will be touring over there, so keep your eye out for them. The Tunnel of Love CD has some secret artwork under the black tray, so if you fools want when you get it, replace the tray with a clear one!!! The demise of the Radio Beats is sad, but Dan, the guitarist already has a new band with his new wife, Yago, from Gito Gito Hustler, and their new band is called the Test Patterns and they are gooooood. Check them out on their myspace page. Lastly, along with the Electricutions, whose debut 7" is coming out in February we have found another D.C. rock band and are putting out a record for them, they are called Hollywood! and they are oh so goooood. The Terrible Twos have gotten us all the songs for their new 7 and it rocks like a hurricane. Did I just say that? Well it does in a very Clone Defectish way. |
| October 6, 2006 |
| First the big news, The Red Red Red album "Mind-Destroyer" has been delayed slightly. We have the CDs, but no LPs and we wont be getting those for about a month. So, in a pre-emptive strike we are going to sell the CD only on Big Neck's website until the LP is ready. So if you want an early glimpse at the genius that ex-Piranha Ryan Sabatis has wrought hit the mailorder and get yourself a copy. The Rot Shit 7" is here, but we are waiting for the boys to finish the cover. Sad news is that The Radio Beats after a meteoric climb in Rock and Roll are breaking up and their last show is in Pittsburgh on November 10 with the Blowtops guest starring. I will be there, you should too. Check out the Radio Beats my space page for details. Night Terrors went to the pressing plant and we are sending out the Blowtops tribute 7" early next week. Haven't talked to Jimmy HOllywood in a while to find out about the Furies last record. The recording and mixing and mastering is done, but not the artwork. We are releasing a 7" by The Electricutions whose front man Scott Wilson, is Odie from The Furies and The Vilent Lovers Club's brother. They are one of the few bands in DC who know how to actually rock. The Vilent Lovers Club inserts have arrived so buy, buy, buy the record. Lastly, we have a little extra help around here so, we are sending orders out daily not weekly, like when it was just me. So, go buy records from out mailorder page, so we can put out more friggin' bands. |
| September 6, 2006 |
| The Vilent Lovers Club 12" EP is finally out and ready even though we had a mishap with the insert. Both that and the Fitt are available in the Mailorder section. We have a ton of other labels swag to put in the mailorder and hopefully that will be done this week. Red Red Red "Mind Destroyer" and Rotshit 7" are both at the pressing plant and should be ready in a month. Night Terrors "Cobras" and the Blowtops Tribute 2X7" are next in line to be sent. I can't even begin to tell you how good this Blowtop's Tribute is, all of the bands came out of the gate rockin' maybe even better than the Blowtops themselves. We are re-releasing Tunnel of Loves first "Rockin' Rollin' Bitches" LP on CD. Apparently the label they did it on, did such a small pressing that no one got a copy, even if they ordered it right from the label. So, Big Neck to the rescue, the album is friggin' amazing, we just couldn't pass it up.
Jim Diamond just finished mastering The Electricutions 7". Scott, Odie from the Furies brother, is the kingpin in this balls to the wall D.C. band. Lastly, The Seger Liberation Army just finished recording 4 new songs and as soon as we can we will put them on a CD with the two already released 7"'s. It will be amazing. One of the Seger covers is Florida Time, a great fucking song. |
| July 12, 2006 |
| Well everything is going along just like I thought, all the bands we are doing records for are throwing them are way all at once. The first single from The Fitt out of Pittsburgh will be done and available in about a week. The Vilent Lovers Club 12" is at the pressing plant and should be available mid-August, its great. The Rotshit single, 12 songs, from our boys in The Radio Beats(yes, it's a side project), is being pressed and we should have that for you within a month. The Baseball Furies just finished mixing their new album and it is simply AMAZING! I thought the rough mixes were good, but then Odie sent me the final mixes...1000% better! It's a fact that I was completely blown away listening to the record. The Mistreaters just released a live record on Kevin's own Dusty Medical Records, and its cool as hell, in fact by early next week you can purchase it right here on bigneckrecords.com. Speaking of which I still have the first attempt at recording an album done at Ski Mask's studio in Buffalo from the Mistreaters, it sounds sleazy and dirty and just plain nasty, something that they would never want to see the light of day. Everyone remind them of this. The Night Terrors are redoing their artwork for the album and we
should have it any day now. Red Red Red just finished up everything for their record and threw it in the mail, so we should be getting that soon, everything we have heard from these boys has been fan-fucking-tastic. Tractor Sex Fatality is moving to San Francisco without Dave, he opted to stay home and keep the New Fangs going strong. We are releasing a Blowtops tribute double 7" this fall, in honor of their 10 years of rock! Some great bands have recorded some disgustingly good covers for the record. Oh yeah, Tom Potter is going back into the studio with Jim Diamond and belting out 2 more Seger System covers for the Seger Liberation Army and then we here at Big Neck are compiling the first two singles and the new songs on a CD. The Radio Beats are heading down to VA Beach to play a couple shows with Steve Baise's new band. (Steve as we all know is the original punk from the Devil Dogs and The Vikings and Pearl Scwartz and oh fuck it, a whole lot). |

| Needless to say, the Pain In The Big Neck II show was awesome! A whole hearted thanks to all the bands that played and gave Big Neck their all. The bands were amazing, some of the best live performances that I have ever seen. You can read a great review of the show at Terminal Boredom. Needless to say I have not been keeping up with thje Big Neck site due to so much going on in my life lately, But that is all about to end! School is over and so begins the summer of Bart. One of the priorities of the summer is focus back on the label. Yeah, for everyone. We have a mess of exciting projects lined up, but as usual I think they will be all dumped on Big Neck's lap at once. So, bare with us on the release schedule. Right now I am waiting on 2 things, Odie's Vilent Lovers Club 12" and I have just received The Night Terrors second album "Cobras". Both are amazing. |

| The Angry Angles cannot make the Pain in The Big Neck show. So, we are having the Mistreaters headline Friday night. The Mailorder section will be completely updated this weekend. We are putting everything into one mailorder, so make sure you click the right add button one is for U.S. and the other is for the rest of the world and does include shipping.
Went to Pittsburgh and saw a record release day from the Radio Beats. They played two kick ass shows, one all ages and another 21 over!!! I will say this the Radio Beats rocked out at every venue, even Dan got on the mic to do a Reatards cover and damn did it sound fine. Thanks to those guys for showing me a real good time! |

| Alright folks as you can see by the intro page, we have a new line-up for the Pain In The Big Neck II show! The Cheater Slicks have agreed to play saturday night, and Jay Reatard has agreed to have his new band The Angry Angles headline friday night! The shows will start ontime, especially Saturday, we have so many bands that we have to start at 7pm or there won't be time enough for them all to play! Get there on time! Whats new in the Big Neck world? Well we have some new records lined up, The Baseball Furies are gracing us with their last full lenght release before the break up, it's amazing, the best stuff they have ever done, hopefully that will be ready in the Spring. Odie, from the Furies, is allowing us to
put out his new band, "The Vilent Lovers Club." Another kick ass band from a guy who knows how to write great fucking songs. That will be released as a 6 song, 45 rpm, 12" vinyl release! Pretty Cool huh? The Piranhas guitarist's new band, Red Red Red from detroit is recording a few more songs and hopefully we are going to release that full length in the spring/summer. We are checking out the new Night Terrors album, it kicks ass, Kevin and Tony are really firing on all cylinders for this one. Also we are expecting a single from The Terrible Twos out of detroit, and another 45 rpm 12" vinyl maxi-single from The New Fangs (Dave from Tractor Sex Fatality, The Blowup, Tokyo Drifters new band). Lastly, it has been 10 years since the Blowtops formed as
a group and to celebrate we are putting out a tribute LP only, to them with their songs covered by some great bands. Hint, Jay Reatard, TSF, Vilent Lovers Club, TPT, Radio Beats, Mistreaters, etc... |

Well folks, it's been a while. We are now starting the phase of updating the site. So, be Patient and new things will continually crop
up here on the Big Neck site. What's new. The Radio Beats album, "Ready To Shake" will be done at the end of this month. Tractor Sex Fatality's full length, "Black Magic, White Pussy", will be
completed at the end of December. The new Blowtops album, "Insected Mind", has been out and getting killer reviews. The Worst and The Things singles have been flying out the door, so get them while you
still can, they are on colored vinyl. What's coming up? WEll we don't have much in the works, so we are looking for swag to put out. Send us your shit bands!
What do we have going on? Well the Baseball Furies in a post mortem move are going into the studio in 3 weeks to record their last album and its being put out right here on Big Neck Records. The Terrible Twos are going
to do a 7" ep for us, I talked to Mac Blackout and they want to do a split, and finally I talked to Tim from Human Eye, found out that they have a 7" lying around ready to be put out. So, I am begging him via
email to let Big Neck put it out. |
| July 18, 2005 |
| New 7"s out now by the Blowtops,
Tractor Sex Fatality and the Dirty Fingers. The Trailer
Park Tornados also have a full length lp/cd out now
and the cd reissue of the Baseball Furies All-American
Psycho/Sounds of Mayhem is available. Check for the
Radio Beats debut full length soon. Also, be sure to
check out our Myspace site at
www.myspace.com/bigneckrecords. |

The Rabies had to cancel
on the Pain In The Big Neck show, but luckily Barrel
Harbor from Buffalo jumped into the fray and agreed
to open Friday night's show. Thanks guys. I have completely
updated the mailorder page with all new stuff and with
a new setup, so check it out and buy some swag! The
Blowtops shows with the Radio Beats were great successes.
The compilation is released!! Order away you bastards!
The songs The Trailer Park Tornados recorded for their
full length are amazing. In that vein Tractor Sex Fatality
is thinking about adding a few new songs to their full
length, which is already phenomonal! The Furies new
record is at the pressing plant. We have made new hats,
and ski hats with the great help of Artistic Impressions
and it's owner Aly Weber, in Buffalo. We also have a
new tshirt with the Comp cover on it and our logo on
the back. Also, as usual we will have tshirts for the
concert, 2 sided, white t-shirts, they look great. Nothing
new on the band front, we are just trying to catch up
with all that we have on our plate right now. And believe
me folks it's all good. Oh yeah check out Multiball
#22!!! It's about us!!!

Well, if you haven't
heard it by now. It's true...We are throwing a 2 day
concert in honor of our compilation release. Of course
it will be called "Pain In The Big Neck...".
The concert will take place in Buffalo, N.Y. at The
Mohawk Place on October 8th and 9th. Right now the band
lineup is on the main page and on the flyer in the intro
page. I personally want to thank all the bands who are
playing because with this lineup I know it's going to
be one hell of a show. Tractor Sex Fatality are flying
in from Seattle just to play this show. The Baseball
Furies and The Tyrades are doing me a huge favor and
being very self-sacrificing to help me out. The Functional
Blackouts are recovering from broken bones and an ill
timed move to make it. The Radio Beats threw themselves
wholly into the show and basically just said we are
excited as hell to play. The Detonations and The Black
Lips are interupting their tours to join the show. Of
course I have to thank the local acts for all their
help. One of the local openers dropped out of the Friday
night lineup so, we are trying to get the Catholic Boys
to play.
Multiball is doing a
big fat article on us. Check it out. The Baseball Furies
second album, "Let It Be" is in my hands and
I am sending it to the pressing plant tomorrow. The
Detonations 7" should be done anyday. The Ponys
repress will be done soon. The next single we are working
on is Tractor Sex Fatality's. The Radio Beats have finished
their album and it kicks some mean ass. It is louder
than hell, we might have to put a warning on the record.
It's louder than Iggy Pops "Raw Power". The
Tornados are getting some awesome reviews out there
for their 7" and their full length is like two
sticks of dynamite in my stereo. You can't wait to hear
it. I mean that.

I forgot to tell you
what is coming up with Big Neck. Well hopefully by the
end of this summer, the compilation will be completed
and pressed. It does kick ass. New records we have in
the works are The Blowtops ep "Mad Monk Medication",
The Detionations ep "Spy In A Magazine" (The
Detonations just released a full length on Bomp, and
the drummer of the band is from the Drags), The Dirty
Fingers new ep, and a new ep by The Tractor Sex Fatality
out of Seattle. The Baseball Furies didn't want any
part of written contracts so they decided to give Big
Neck their second Full Length!! It's whips ass boys
and girls. The Radio Beats are also going into the studio
with Steve Baise on July 22 to record their full length
for Big Neck and finally it looks like Tractor Sex Fatality
is going to record a few more numbers and we are going
to do a full length for them in the fall. Tractor Sex
Fatality, if you haven't heard them are one of the most
ingenious, depraved purvayors of rock n roll out there.
Their music keeps me awake at night because it scares
me so. We are also hoping to do a project with a band
out of Ireland called The Things, they are a creepy
horror driven garage rock band.

Is it June already?
Crap. Well what's up????? We are still waiting on a
bit of artwork for the compilation, but I am assured
it will be done soon so that the "Pain In The Big
Neck" comp will come out this summer.
Big Neck just released
the new Trailer Park Tornados 7" ep "...don't
mind the maggots" and we just released the Locomotions
ep "Teacher". I was in Buffalo a couple weeks
ago and had the chance to check out The TPT along with
Concubine Forming at a club called The Mohawk Place.
The Tornados kicked ass! They are a take no prisoners
live act, no performance is too depraved no act its
too lurid. It was fucked! The Concubine Forming guys
head lined the show and guess what? They freakin' went
out and got themselves a drummer!! Is this one of the
seven signs? Concubine Forming along with their new
drummer have really turned up their live show a notch.
They were unbelievable, Mike was flying all over the
stage, throwing his body and guitar every which way,
and their new drummer beat the hell out of his skins.
The show was FANTASTIC! The Tornados have gone into
the studio and actually recorded a full length! For
a band that is never happy with the way they record,
they came out of this recording saying that they have
never sounded better in all their lives and that this
is a great recording. I can't wait to hear it.
The Blowtops are back
and on tour again! Fuck Yeah! They will be playing shows
in Chicago, Milawalkee, and Pittsburgh, so watch out
world the evil, the depraved, the rock is back. Oh yeah,
Concubine Forming are playing their CD release show
at The Mohawk Place in Buffalo NY on July 3rd, along
with yep, The Trailer Park Tornados and The Rabies.

Sorry about the delay
in updating the site but we were changing servers and
that took a while to straighten out. Just to update
you on current projects, The Radio Beats "Blow
You Up" single is done and it will blow you away.
The Seger Liberation Armys new single is done, but we
are waiting on some artwork that could take a couple
weeks. The Sick Fits single is being pressed, along
with the Trailer Park Tornados single. Concubine Forming's
cd is at the plant getting done, that should be out
soon. The Locomotions single is on deck to be sent next
and thanks to our distributors paying on time that will
be very soon. We are ready to send the comp to the pressing
plant, we are just waiting for the artwork and one more
song by the Tyrades to be done and as we all know it
will be worth the wait.
Otherwise, for the future
we are definitely doing a Radio Beats full length, we
are hitting up a few bands for singles, and we are going
to beg a few more to let us do their records. Hopefully
everyone has heard how well The 7-10 Splits CD is doing.
John Peel over in England has apparently been playing
it non-stop and the sales are way beyond expectations.
Oh yeah, we have Mac Blackout doing the cover artwork
for the CD compilation, it will look awesome! The Functional
Blackouts full length artwork is incredible and the
album itself is out of this world (Check it out on Criminal
IQ records). Plus we have it for sale on our mailorder
page.
The Baseball Furies
have finally mixed their new album and I got a preview...It's...I...can't
think of any words that would do it justice. It is plainly
the best thing out there. The Blowtops themselves have
outdone their past recordings, their new stuff is out
of this world, literally. Any of you big labels better
latch onto them soon.
Criminal IQ just had
their Maybe Chicago release show, which everyone told
me was a night not to be forgotten. The comp itself
does great justice to the city of Chicago and all it's
bands, 12 bands 24 tracks, go to my mailorder section
and buy it. I'm sorry to say to the folks over seas,
costs to ship to you guys keeps going up so sometime
soon in the future you will see the prices in the international
mailorder section rise.
Sweet J.A.P. had a great
interview in Razorcake zine, check it out. I heard a
rumor that The Lost Sounds are going to In The Red Records,
good for them. We will get that LP repressed this spring.
I am going to hit the Furies up once again to repress
their first two singles onto a CD. They also contributed
a great song to the comp, brand new rock from the Furies
boys and girls.
