"Walk On." You should have both this 7" and their album (on Big Neck) if you’re into the garage scneen at all. Git it lamoid!
UP YOURS - THE MISTREATERS "STRANDED" EP
4 huge tracks immediately hit ya between the eyes. This is primitive punk rock at it's best. The Mistreaters conjure up a kinda
Oblivions/Blowtops mess, with wild hard hitting thumping drums & loud fuzzed up guitars. Vocals are screamed so hard that the
vocal chords begin to gush blood. This is how dedicated these guys are to making REAL music. Big Neck certainly has a band
on their roster that kicks the dust up & gives it their best. Get ready for their full length on Big Neck any day. Im hangin
to hear it. Its gonna be killer!!!!

Probably the closest yer gonna' get right now to the Gories/Oblivians/Beguiled Crypt-period. Milwaukee lo-fi blues deconstruction with balls. "Stranded" is a monster and
the other three (also on their great demo) slide along a two/three chord groove and suddenly explode into screaming and chaos, catchy too. Much recommended.
MULTIBALL - THE MISTREATERS "STRANDED" EP
The Mistreaters showcase 4 sick and noisy numbers that hint at a penchant for late 80's hate mongers like the Laughing Hyenas and The Honeymoon Killers,
and are driven by a mighty bass, with a smidgen of red-hot poker up your ass vocals. So, if you were hoping to get bludgeoned to
death sometime soon, this might not be a bad place to start.

Falling somewhere between THE PERSUADERS and THE COUNT DOWNS, THE MISTREATERS play chaotic, heavy, fuzzy tunes that attack.
They got great song titles like, "How Much For The Women" and "Leg Show". I can dig a band with a sleazy underbelly.

PUNK PLANET - THE MISTREATERS "STRANDED" EP
The same label that brought you rockin' singles from The Blacks, The Blowtops, and The Primate 5(among others) is back with four
songs from a noisy, angst and aggression-riddled four piece out of Wisconsin. My guess is a 5 month long winter is a prime source of their
crazed thrash. The Mistreaters fit in rather snugly with a whole bunch of fucked up, blues-based rhythm sloggers, most notably the Oblivians
and Blues Explosion. The Screechy, demon possessed vocals are right up front over the simple jungle rhthyms and tortured guitar spasms. The
songs, "Stranded," "How Much For The Women," "Leg Show," and "Walk On," all feature a mix of solid rhythm, classic lead noodling, distortion
happy guitar chords and strangulated bluster. MOM SHOULD HATE THIS.

These guys go for the shitbox drums and muffled vocals sound. The higher the volume, the greater the confusion. Mistreaters use dynamics
to get their point across in Stranded. I wonder if the concept for How Much For The Women? came from the Blues Brothers.
I like the trash intro lead on Leg Show. The Mistreaters put out the skronk.

Decent OBLIVIONS style slop rock-n-roll, not the gospel crud, true to heart rock. Comparable to SOUL FOOD and POPULAR SONGS. Good Stuff.

Hey Now, Quite the trashed up combo of Milwaukeeans that really come outta left field, here. I first got wind of 'em when THE BLOWTOPS gave
me their demo tape last summer. And after the ass blast I got from that, including throbbing renditions of OBLIVIANS and GORIES numbers,
I was floored! They took everything THE BLOWTOPS had, and stuck a crack lighter under it. Upgrade your balls.
WSUM RADIO - THE MISTREATERS "STRANDED" EP
This is the best trashy band in Wisconsin. They use a trashcan lid and a hubcap for their cymbals. The resulting sound is what you'd expect a pack of rabid wolves to play if they formed a band. It's raw and distorted as a motherfucker. My favorite song is "Leg Show"

Oh shit, these guys can fuckin' rock!!! Stripped down, raw to basics, fuzzed out rock'n'roll from Wisconsin... this is their first album and it
kicks some serious ass, the songs seem to have been written for the only purpouse to jump up in anger & smash everything in sight!!! They also
got a bad bluesy-roots'n'roll vibe that add a even more appealing feeling to the whole mess. 12 songs that not easily will let you disappointed.
Go out and get one.

When describing The Mistreaters, some may struggle to create a genre for the band, along the lines of 'blues influenced garage/punk-metal' or some such twaddle. I must stray from such classifications, and will just say that these boys know what good music is. There are so many influences that it's not worth my time to list them, so I will just say that this album ROCKS. The drums kick HARD. The bass is LOUD. The guitar is distorted and fuzzy as hell, and the vocals are so god damn angry and guttural it probably makes little kids wet the bed. I mean, if I were to make a silent movie of a huge earthquake hitting California, this would be the fuckin' soundtrack.
Two of these songs were on their first 7", and one is a cover of the Passions song "Lively One", so we've got 9 slabs of unreleased, original Mistreaters mayhem, which just leaves you thirsting for more. My favorites are "Tired of Looking At You" (#2) because of the drumming and the excellent title/lyrics. "(It's Always) Rico Rico Rico" (#5) is real damn good too, midway through the song the distortion and the bass drop out, and we're left with the pounding drums and a couple measures of plain guitar, it's pure genius. My absolute favorite is #9, "Chock Full" because it's such a simple song, with two chords and the chorus "Like a good woman should" shouted over and over, plus the classic line "Come on baby you know I'm talkin' bout that OLD testament loooove!" thrown in for good measure.
The verdict is that this CD rocks. Buy it, steal it, do whatever it takes, and come see these guys the next time they're in town.
SMALLPUNK.COM - THE MISTREATERS "GRAB THEM CAKES" LP or CD
Whenever I see the cover of a CD, I try to judge what kind of music it will be. Looking at "Grab Them Cakes", I guessed poppy punk or maybe even ska. Needless to say, I was caught with my pants around my ankles when powerful screaming rock bombarded me from my stereo. I thought I had pressed the wrong CD to play. Fronted with simple, strong, and always catchy chords and mostly midtempo drumming, the music is never blazing fast but when it's not moshable, it's very danceable. Christreaters vocals are what really made this CD for me. His throaty singing/yelling and occasional screaming ignites the kind of passion and excitement that makes you finger point and throw your body recklessly around the pit. My favorite tracks were "SC Twist", "Tired of Looking at You", and "(It's Always) Rico, Rico, Rico". I also like how they never take themselves too seriously as is evident by the song titles and stuff written on the packaging. My one complaint though, and something that always annoys me, is that they didn't include lyrics on the CD insert. But that doesn't really take away from the music. Either way this is one of the biggest (pleasant) surprises I've heard in a long long time.

hoo-boy, does it smoke! 12 cuts... my favorites being "SC Twist," "(It's Always) Rico Rico Rico," "You're Fukkin' Fired," "I'm Sick," "Lively One," (yes, a cover
of the classic tune by the Passions), and "I Won't Like You." Get it, punks...

2 had the closest thing to a hook, but overall it's lo-fi at its grittiest. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I dig Big Neck Records. They are a fun label with a quality roster of bands. The MISTREATERS play a lo-fi garage rootsy garage stuff
that reminds me of Poison 13. A cool record, and I especially dug the classic back cover shot.

Growly garage punk akin to Murder City Devils, Zeke and Speeddealer. While certainly not as fast as those bands, definitely in
the same spirit.

Muscular Crypt-wallop of the highest order. This album (especially the near-flawless A Side) takes the strengths of the single - loose garage hunch 'n roll - and ups the ante with
the rock-solid balls they've been, uh, flexing onstage as of late. "Rico Rico Rico" and "SC Twist" are particular standouts that display everything good about mid-period Crypt, while remaining unique to the band.
Methinks the upcoming Estrus single will kill.

The cover does this CD absolutely no justice. I thought this was going to be some lame ass Ska band, but boy was I suprised. The Mistreaters
serve up double servings of high energy low-fi rock'n'roll. Truly they bridge the gap between 60s cult bands like MC5 and The Stooges with modern
garage noise rockers like the New Bomb Turks and the Gotohells. Layered with raw gravely guitar and overdriven beyond belief vocals,
The Mistreaters definitely kick you in the ass with great tunage like "Tired of Looking at You" and "You're Fuckin' Fired."
So, if your hankering for something noisey, loud, and dangerous, let the Mistreaters treat you like the dog you are. A gusto batch of high
octane fuel waiting to catch fire. Yowza!!!

Every once in a while a CD arrives at Chain-Whipped! which absolutely defies discription, but we have to agree with the comments on the jacket:
"The best group in the country and I have seen them all" - Art Linkletter. "It's the best thing since Robin Williams was Popeye!" -
Mississippi Monroe. To that we'll add: "If It didn't have a hole in the middle, it would resemble a tasty jelly donut" - Chain-Whipped Magazine.
Rough, sleazy, and we reckon they do a hell of a wicked live show.
GARAGE AND BEAT - THE MISTREATERS "GRAB THEM CAKES" LP or CD
Raunchy, rowdy, fucked up rockin' grind corpse spew from a four piece that borrows as much from The Oblivians and their ilk as they do from
industrial dirge dogs, nihilistic punk heathens and death metal helions. Lead vocalist Christreater, rants and raves with raw
throated bravado throughout and the band provides a suitably heavy, dark and dangerous backdrop. Chalenging and chaotic
music with a relentless growl, gritty guitar wash and bombastic percussion blow outs. Arghhhhhh. HORIZONTAL ACTION - THE MISTREATERS "GRAB THEM CAKES" LP or CD
A full length eplosive puck from Milwaukee's greatest contribution since Schlitz. This album scathes with Ajax strength & chops like
a ginsu. The title "Grab Them Cakes," has gotta be form Junkyard Dog's song on the early 80s WWF album, too. Anyway, these guys
have quite a chip on their shoulders, but I don't know why. This doesn't leave time for fuckin' around, either. So watch your head,
cause somebody's gettin' ready to kick it!

Here is some more nonsense from the cheese-heads. If you have been following along, this is not their first release, this follows
at least one 7" on Big Neck.
The aggression gets kicked up a notch. The vocals are still muffled and appropriately crappy sounding. Break it down. "How Much for
The Women?" has to be influenced by the infamous Belushi statement. If not add it to the legend.
9 TIMES - THE MISTREATERS "GRAB THEM CAKES" LP or CD
Blazing a trail of destruction with fiery, reverb drenched garage rock'n'roll is Milwaukee's own The Mistreaters. Their debut album
(which appears on Reston, Virginia's premier subterranean rock label BIG NECK) is not only bursting with raw energy, but the
group's style of garge music is a throwback to a time when every kid wished he could one day rock as hard as this. The music of
The Mistreaters is fast, noisy, and has lyrics that are barely audible. So why should their winning formula change for Grab Them Cakes?
The album's song titles are funny and pretty much sum up The Mistreaters' view of the world. In name alone, "You're Fukkin' Fired,"
"We're #2," and "I Won't Like You" seem to convey their apathetic and slck attitude to a tee. Even a brief comical tirade against
punk at the records conclusion reinforces The Mistreaters' no nonsense stance. "Tired of Looking at You," and the groveling
"I'm Hurting" are the standouts for me, but if you like your garage rock loud, angry and lo-fi then GRAB THEM CAKES is agreeable form
beginning to end.
MAXIMUM ROCK-N-ROLL - THE MISTREATERS "GRAB THEM CAKES" LP or CD
A good ol' midwestern freakshow from Milwaukee. Got that regular-Joe sensibility poured over fuzzy, fucked up, rock'n'roll like Mrs.
Butterworth's on a short stack. Add a smart-ass sense of humor, and song titles that, for the life of me, I cannot correlate
to the songs themselves at all, and there you have it. Fans of QUADRAJETS and BLOWTOPS should dig it. I am both pleased and confused.
Which is not to say I don't reccomend a listen for yourself wholeheartedly.
CYCLOPS ZINE - THE MISTREATERS "GRAB THEM CAKES" LP or CD
"Grab Them Cakes" is the Mistreaters debut album out now on Big Neck Records. It's also the first full length LP from Big Neck Records after a string of great 7"s.
It's a great debut for both the band and the record label. The Mistreaters out of Milwaukee flat out rock. I think these guys listen to all the same records I do
because I can hear the influences but it comes out sounding new. Take a throbbing bass, fierce drumming, totally noisy distorted guitar, a pissed off vocalist with a
shredded throat, throw in a hubcap and you have the Mistreaters. The album comes roaring right out of the gate with "SC Twist." It has a real nasty riff and plenty
of screaming (I think someone may have been hurt during the making of this song). There are a few songs from their first self released cassette that have been
re-recorded. They are "How Much For The Woman", "I'm Hurting" and "Chock Full." These were the strongest songs and are even better here, tighter maybe a
little faster. "Rico, Rico, Rico" starts with a funky little riff and kicks it on the chorus. It's about a jealous man who suspects his woman is cheating on him, perhaps
with Rico Suave. "You're Fukkin' Fired" is shows more of their funky side and has a killer slide guitar in it. "Lively One" is a Passions song and the only cover on the
record. It has a garagey feel to it with a cool harmonica part. I don't know who the hell the Passions are but this song makes me want to find out. The record ends
with "I Won't Like You." It rips along at ninety to nothing and makes great use of that hubcap as a cymbal. It ends appropriately with a paint-peeling scream. This is
a great album. Hunt it down and be prepared to rock.
