UP YOURS - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP
On the ever interesting and worthchecking BigNeck Records just recently two new 7"s were launched. First is Bremens scumpunk terrorists, THE MOORAT FINGERS with a 4 tracker 7" "Achtüng Duschbag". Allthough we get 4 tunes here both sides deal with the same tunes; infact one side is the German while the flip is the English side. The songs are to the usual Moorat Fingers taste less noisy and loathsome, but are fairly, fucked up and crude punched up punkrawk with a harmfull mission. No big surprise, but as one should expect from these punkrawk hoodlums.
HIT LIST - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP
The Moo-Rats come out the gate burning with four fast, rude, loud, and snotty songs that are over way too quick. In your face guitars and spit soaked lyrics, sung in both German and English. Stuff like this is meant to be on singles, and Big Neck knows how to pick'em.
ROCKTOBER - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP 10 pounds of Rock & Roll shit in a 5 pound Rock & Roll colostomy band!!!
CARBON 14 - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP Four deranged Germans, hellbent on rocking your measly, puny world-and they mean it! This four song EP actually has the same two songs on both sides; only they sing'em in German one side and in English on the flip. These guys are good, probably one of the better punk band in Germany right now.
MAXIMUM ROCK-N-ROLL - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP German outfit doing full-tilt old school punk rock with the requisite goods. Reminds me of a cruder/faster LAZY COWGIRLS or ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN. Good songs for bobbing the head and blowing the eardrums, some nice rockandroll touches just like the COWGIRLS. Cool songs, loud guitars, a drunken sounding singer, etc..etc. Does the trick quite nicely for me.
GARAGE AND BEAT - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP One nation, under the influence of four loud and obnoxious spasms of fucked up punk rock and roll mayhem with attitude and venom for all. I don't know what country's anthem this might be, but if this four piece coined it, it might sound something like that. The first track, "Du Solftest Scwingen," is the German version of "You Should Be Swinging" which kicks off the B-side. The band also threw the song, "Radio Off" on here twice, one time sung by their regular singer (actually, I know nothing about his toilet habits?), who has a manic rasp and growl going on and once by Tim, who , as pointed out on the press release, does sound a bit like Motorhead's Lemmy. They get a lot of mileage out of these two songs.
GO METRIC - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP Whatever the band's name lost in being translated from the orginal German (which is apparently, everything) is more than made up for by the killer songs. We get English and German versions of "You Should Be Swinging" (which I'd like to think is a call for baseball hitters to be more aggressive but is probably related to fisticuffs) and two versions of "Radio Off," one regular, one with the (I think) bassist who happens to sound a lot like Lemmy. Rip roaring, let's get drunk and rumble garage punk fueled by Godzilla-size riffs (had to borrow from another culture there, I couldn't think of a German equivalent). Great Stuff!
BLANKGENERATION.COM - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP Big Neck continues to mine Europe for the coolest in raunch-rawk, this time stopping in Germany for their latest 7" offering. This four-track single essentially only has two songs on it. The first, "You Should Be Swinging", is the reason to buy this sucker. A smoking thrash punk number sounding quite like a muscular Dwarves if Blag had a German accent. You get this track sung in German on the A-Side and English on the B-Side. The German version sounds a little scarier just cause German is a fucking scary sounding language, but I'm sure you'll like it in English much better. The second track, "Radio Off", sounds a lot like the first except less catchy. You get two versions of this one too, both in English (I think), but with two different singers. Definitely worth buying just for "You Should Be Swinging", the song is just that good. It's on Big Neck for shit's sake! And when you order, ask Bart where the hell the Baseball Furies' full-length is too.
BLANKGENERATION.COM - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP Yeah, two heavy garage punk rockers from the Germany. I say two because the Moo Rat Fingers do the same two songs on each side, it's just that one side's in English and one side's in German (I guess). The German side has more kick to it… Their first tune, "You Should Be Swinging," is a firm garage punk tune with a bad attitude. But "Radio Off" is thee winner of the record via it's ripping off of classic rock 'n' roll licks that never get old. Now if I could just get Bart to start printing better cover art… I'm gonna do it Bart, do it for eeeeeuuuuuuwwwwwwwwww!
CYCLOPS ONLINE ZINE - THE MOORAT FINGERS "ACHTUNG DUSCHBAG!" EP "Actung Duschbag" is the American debut by the Moo-Rat Fingers on Big Neck Records. The Moo-Rat Fingers are a punk band from Germany. Side A starts off with "Du Solftest Schwigen." Translated, it means "You Should Be Swinging." I know this because this song is sung in German on Side A but the first song on Side B is the same song sung in English. "Du Solftest Schwigen" is a hard rockin' song with a great sing-a-long chorus. Of course I couldn't understand a word of it. "Radio Off" starts off with some great off-kilter guitar. It has a killer guitar lead and catchy verse and chorus. Side B kicks off with "You Should Be Swinging." It sounds exactly the same only it's sung in English. To tell you the truth, I couldn't tell the difference except on the chorus I could understand "You should be swinging." The last song on the record is "Radio Off" sung by another band member. Once again it sound exactly the same except this version sounds like it was sung by Lemmy from Motorhead. Hell, for all I know maybe it was. These guys are real good. They have well crafted songs, play well and will rock you like a hurricane. This whole two versions of two songs thing is a little odd, but I like it. And, I like the Moo-Rat Fingers a lot. I have one question. What the hell does "You should be swinging" mean?
