Dsitractors - Shake It Up!!!
the Distractors
"Shake It Up!!!"

This boy/girl/boy garage punk group just screams for the Ramones and Rip Offs. If you are looking for a band that sounds exactly like those early Rip Off Records 45s be sure to pick up the Distractors; they got the sound down to a fuckin’ T! There’re 6 tunes on this 7" including, "Rock and Roll Fox" and "Rollerderby Queen." Y’heah! - Blank Generation

With the one, two punch of "Rock and Roll Fox" and "Rollerderby Queen," the Distractors could go toe to toe with Loli and the Chones, garage punk that is blazingly fast and blissfully moronic. And even when they are less frantic they are still on par with your average Supercharger songs. Shaken and stirred!! - Go Metric

Big Neck deliver us another one of the wild raw 7s. This time its The Distractors, 100 MPH lo-fi punk rock. This slab is soooo lo-fi. Sounds like it was recorded in their shithouse. Cram a bunch of punks in a small room & out comes this. Who says ya need a big studio to get great sounds. You can just feel the energy this thing creates. 6 short fast R&R numbers ready to melt ya needle the 1st time around. Beware!! Ya gonna become hooked on these guys. Kinda reminds me of San Francisco Loudmouths in parts. Yeah, kinda. Better check it out for yourself. - Up Yours

The Distractors remind me of several nude honeys I know. Perhaps it's just the garage with female vocalist thing, but "Jennifer" screams just like dear Yuri does and that ain't bad. Like wicked 7"'s of rockin' squelchy bands? ...give this label a try.. bigneckrecords@usa.net Tell them CW sent you. Yeah, it's the IT generation, so no matter how much of a punk you try to stay, you're gonna have to use a computer at some stage. Then, when you've got all the albums you want from overseas, you can smash the fucker with a SLEDGE HAMMER! - Chain-Whipped

There are something like 6 songs squeezed onto this baby, and yes it spins at 45 RPMs. Are the songs short and to the point? Well, duh. Punk rock? You bet. Sorta like an amped up Supercharger, and just as cruddy and unintelligable. If they come to your town, be sure to get to the show on time, as their set can't be more than 20 minutes long. - Multiball

Very low fi punk rock to drink to. Sound quality like The Mummies. Six songs, fast, furious, and snotty, with male and female vocals. These guys know how to rock. - Punk Planet

Hey, this is fun!, fun!, fun! Raw, noisy, undisciplined, fast as crud rock with an even smattering of male and female rant. This could pass for the 1-4-5's on a speed trip or Melt Banana making sense. If you dig The Statics, give 'em a go. The Distractors are Trey, Jennifer, and Allen, on guitar, bass, and drums, and what they lack in Phil Collins style lightness, they more than adequately make up for in adrenaline rush frantic drive and honest, heartful squeal. Without having to resort to making this a 33 1/3 release, the group manages to squeeze 3 songs on each side. "Rock and Roll Fox," "Let U Go," "Bury Her Tonite," "Rollerderby Queen," "Johnny," and "Bang! Bang!" are all feedback-rich, plenty tight enough for slackers, in your face gems. I LIKE IT! - Flipside

I don't think that these guys are going to beat this week's champs on Star Search, but I bet they could kick the shit out of them. Their studio songs sound like live DEAD KENNEDYS tracks with female vocals dubbed in. Trashy, punk shit, fast and dirty. 6 songs. - Hit List

Six songs that play at 45, though the last song plays at 33. That could mean many things, but in this case it's 70's style punk. Fast but melodic, with male and female vocals. The recording is sloppy and there's lots of yelling in a nice way. Sound really fantastic! - Maximum Rock'n'Roll

This isn't a distraction, it's a derailing! Train wrecks are so romantic, don't you think? This sounds like vomit looks. (Note: I like this record) - Rocktober

Feedback and speed characterizes The Distractors. The female vocals (screams) help out. The short song structures along with the Daly City style recording techniques help make this a winner. The final song appears to be mastered at an incorrect speed. I thought that it was a nice touch. - Trash Times

Not unlike the SPOILED BRATS on the A-side with a cool trashed out guitar, and even kinda reminiscent of THE BAGS, but with a slightly annoying female vocal that gets bad by the end. I'm glad they're singing about high school and knives and shit, but the can't help here. - Horizontal Action
