Big Neck comes through again. This time it’s a side project from Alicja of The Lost Sounds. The Lost Sounds are appealing on paper (intense garage punkwith new wave keyboards sprinkled in), but I never like their records. So I was surprised by how much I liked the Fitts. The formula doesn’t vary much from the one used by The Lost Sounds, yet the results are there. There’s still a healthy regard for misanthropy (“Girls Like U (Deserve 2 Die)”; “(Maybe he’s) Not So Smart; along with the title cut), but with less screaming the hooks surface more often. - Go Metric

This is their second release on Big Neck and I like it. All girl punk rock band with Alicja of Lost Sounds fame. This is angry, screaming, punk rock with tons of attitude. It’s almost like black metal, but with a new wave garage sound. I'm not proud admitting that the closeup of Vince Neil's glam-accessorized crotch on the "2 Fast 4 Love" cover fascinated me to the point of uncomfortableness. So I love this single enough simply because the sleeve recreates the cover with a female crotch featuring parts I'm more at ease ogling. Add in that the music inside the sleeve is raw 80s/60s Garage wave and this Fitts like a glove and is way to fast for love. - Rocktober

Anyway, fetishes aside, THE FITTS are an all female band lead by Alicja Trout of the more famous LOST SOUNDS and have been recorded by master weirdo Jay Reatard himself. In my opinion, Jay's hand affects the whole record a lot, in fact it seems we're listening to a weaker version of the REATARDS instead of an otherwise interesting garagey-spooky riot girl punk band. I tell riot because the lyrics are pretty violent, esplicit hatred against stupid girls, stupid boys and their dicks etcetera. I'm not saying this is bad, no no. But I would have given it a different production, since the songs are catchy and full of hatred (which is always top notch to me), but the sound is not the one I imagine while thinking about such bands. Sometimes they remind me of BIKINI KILL anyway... hope this is not offensive for the gals in question, ehehehehe.... punk girls you'll love this. I do, but probably my cock prevents me to fully appreciate the effort. - Garbage Dump

Mmmmmmmmm tthe Fitts, one of the others Alicja Trout (Lost Sounds) proyects and this is their second single and in my opinion very better than the Lost Sounds/Vanishing split, sounds cool and i like a lot the first track "I have to laugh (when i see you hurt)", a good song! slow with a calm Alicja voice not with fury i like a lot how she sing in this song the other tracks have lots of fury and you find Alicja singing in my opinion like Jay Reatard on the Reatards singles like "You're so Lewd" very near. The tracks are still good i enjoy hearing this single but the best is the first song, the third song is also cool mix the two different forms of singing and to close this 7" come in my opinion the second best song of EP a fast track that reminds me the times of 80s LA punk (don't ask why....), in conclussion a good single! Great female vocals on this punk rock band that has such great song titles as "I have to laugh (when I see you hurt), girls like you (deserve to die)," and my favorite "Contaminated (by your dick)." Already like it, it's true. Deadly duo that includes Lost Sounds synth-ist Alicja, dishing out a wild and simple take on punk rock, minus the usual science fiction/doomed world window dressing that I associate with that band. The Fitts spell the word you as U, buzz with smouldering intensity, and turn out dirty sounds that enter the ear and borrow deep. Neat. The slapdash cut and past cover and nobrow song titles (Girls Like U) Deserve To Die," Contaminated (by your d#$%k)" belie a record that's a lot more complicated than you might think on first exposure. Catchy, but wild girl/girl two piece with Alicja of Lost Sounds fame. Melodic (but not weak) vocals, angry screaming, and probably puking. Raucous guitar smashery. Solid, crashing drum work. Also, generally bad attitudes and cursing. Now that should sound good to everyone reading this. If not, get off the shitter and giver your copy to someone with a pulse. - Horizontal Action

The Fitts have just released their second 7 inch on Big Neck Records. The Fitts are an all female band with Alicja Trout. Ms. Trout must be the hardest working lady in rock n' roll with the Fitts, Lost Sounds and Mouse Rocket. They play some crazed new wave rock n' roll. Side A kicks off with "I Have To Laugh (When I See U Hurt)." This is a cool rockin' number. The verse has some psycho screaming and the chorus has the girls singing along together. I could help but laugh myself when they sing; "Ha, ha, ha. I like to see you hurt." "Girls Like U (Deserve 2 Die)" is a punk rock number that really reminds me of a Reatards song. This song must be good therapy. Side B starts off with "(Maybe He's) Not So Smart." It reminds me of a Missing Person's song and takes me back to college and the heyday of new wave. "Contaminated (By Your D*!#@K)" ends the ep. It's a real rocker full of anger. I guess the name says it all. These songs are all twisted and full of rage in the best punk rock tradition. Ms. Trout is one talented lady and has another great little record here. Check it out. - Cyclops

Despite the 2's and the U's that might make you think otherwise, The Fitts do not sound a goddamn thing like Prince. And despite the bitchin' torso shot of every metal chick I ever struck out with between 1983 and 1989, they ain't no girl-glam band, either. So, who and what are they? The chick from the Lost Sounds- you know, the 'blackwave' garage stompers outta Memphis- gets together with a bunch of like-minded crazy girls with guitars. They write a buncha parentheses-heavy songs about cutting off their boyfriend's balls, and wrap it around raw, screaming, stripped-down, punch and roll. And there you fuckin' go. I'm not sure if it's empowering or just overkill, but it's one hell of a screechfest, I tell ya that much. If Tormentula gave up the black metal for primal garage rock, they'd sound almost as noisy as the Fitts. I am left with one pensive question. The FITTS "II" (Big Neck 7in.) The music is pretty and sort of dark sound but the chick singing sounds totally death metal! Her voice reminds me of the female singer in the Lost Sounds (editor note: Because it is). She sounds all nice and soft then she screams and growls making my blood curdle. I think there should be more girls singing death metal but only if they sound like the one that sings for this band. - Smashing Transistors

THE FITTS…are they still around? One of Alicja (of the LOST SOUNDS) many bands… This 7" is better than that last one that they sent me years ago…though I dug that one too…This is more garagey and very LOST SOUNDS influenced…soooooo…….if you like "Rats Brains & whatever" era type JayJay lovin' rock, you'll like this. - Blank Generation
